The Dawkins Delusion
Richard Dawkins comes up with some intellectually weird statements - such as "we now know 90% of everything there is to know". How is this possible? We do not know what we do not know! Ironically, we actually don't know about 90% of the universe, as most of it is missing! (see Dark Matter). Interestingly, in an interview on the documentary "Expelled" (see the trailer below left) he admitted that the world indicates intelligent design. Another Dawkins quote is "It is absolutely safe to say that if you meet someone who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid, or insane (or wicked)" New York Times, 1999.
Notice that he says "who claims not to believe", implying that they do believe it really !
If you're interested in some of the stuff Dawkins says, you may want to consider looking at some counter arguments, which are laid out in the book The Dawkins Delusion.
One of the comfortable things about Atheism is the absence of any sense of accountability or impending judgement from a higher being. Various arguments are put forward to try and explain away God, a bit like the Babel Fish from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (see below right). The book Reason for God by Tim Keller lays out very well reasoned arguments covering many of Dawkin’s points and presents intellectually credible reasoning for belief in an age of scepticism. Do you really think that everything is meaningless?
