How would you understand a new complicated washing machine with lots of buttons, settings and programmes?

You would read the manual.

Life is complicated, so we need a manual. Christians believe that the Bible is God's Word, given to us, and it is the manual for life.

The Bible teaches that there is one God, who existed before creation. God is present in three "forms", the Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit, referred to as the Trinity. Like water, which exists as ice, steam and liquid water - all very different, but all are the same H2O.

1 Corinthians 8:6 "yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live."

John 1:3 "Through him [Jesus] all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."

Hebrews 1:1,2 "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe."

Isaiah 40:28 "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom."

When we look at the beauty and majesty of creation, we see something of the character of the Creator. Just like when we see a painting or hear music, we know something about the artist. An example in creation would be the stars and the amazing Hubble space telescope images . Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God" Job 26:7 "He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing."

Jesus is the most remarkable man in history and he claimed to be God, it is worth considering what he said ...
